Smith, John Stafford
(1750 – 1836) British composer, church organist and musicologist of early music. He wrote the music for “The Anacreontic Song,” the tune of which became the music for “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which was made the official national anthem of the United States of America in 1931, with lyrics by Francis Scott Key.
